Cristiano Ronaldo set to miss Juventus' next game against Brescia
Gonzalo Higuain makes a comeback to the Juventus squad for their midweek clash against Brescia
Juventus FC manager Maurizio Sarri is preparing his side to compete against Brescia Calcio without Cristiano Ronaldo in the team. The Portuguese talisman is left out of the 20-man Juventus squad because of CR7's prevailing injury. On the other hand, Gonzalo Higuain has made it to the 20-man lineup.
The Portugal captain is set to miss Juve's midweek away clash at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti in Brescia. According to the club spokesperson, their heavyweight forward is suffering from 'slight fatigue' in the adductor muscle.
According to Goal, Sarri said, "I want to see the current conditions. Ronaldo yesterday (Sunday) had a little muscle fatigue but it is quite normal after three games in seven days."
The 34-year-old former Manchester United and Real Madrid megastar appeared on the football pitch three times within a short span of a week. This might have proved to be a heavy load for the Portuguese maestro.
Ronaldo played each minute in Juventus' two Serie A matches against ACF Fiorentina and Hellas Verona FC. The Fiorentina match resulted in a goalless draw while against Verona, Ronaldo scored a goal from a penalty.
In between these two domestic matches, the Portuguese also appeared in the UEFA Champions League away clash against Atletico Madrid. Juventus drew that match, 2-2. Ronaldo missed a last-minute stunner, which otherwise could have seen the black and white brigade emerge victorious.
Juventus is currently in the second spot of the Serie A points table. As we speak, they are two points behind the table-toppers, Inter Milan.
Ronaldo was nominated among the top three contenders for The Best FIFA Men's Player of the Year title, alongside Lionel Messi and Virgil van Dijk. In spite of being nominated, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner didn't attend the gala event in Milan. According to Marca, his absence has made FIFA angry. Concerns were raised from the organisers given the fact that CR7 lives just 150 miles away from the venue of the award ceremony.
Sources mentioned that Ronaldo couldn't make it to the event because he had to play Brescia on Tuesday. However, now that he has been ruled out of the squad due to injury, critics are saying that the Portuguese remained a no-show in the award ceremony because he wouldn't have appreciated the Argentine's title win.
