Customers told to bin Ben & Jerry's cookie dough ice cream - it may contain metal pieces
Customers with affected batch codes can call the customer care line for a replacement tub voucher.
Ben and Jerry's have told customers to discard tubs of their Cookie Dough ice cream if it comes from select batches as they may contain small pieces of metal. Customers who have already bought the 500ml tubs were told to "discard the product in the usual household bin."
The four affected batch codes are L62110L011, L62111L011, L62112L011 AND L62113L011.
The codes are found on the bottom of the tubs.
"Ben & Jerry's internal quality assurance checks have shown that a limited number of Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough 500ml products may contain small pieces of metal," read the warning, saying that the company was voluntarily recalling the affected batches.
"Everyone with a 500ml tub of Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough in their freezers should check the batch number of the bottom of their tub to make sure it's not affected and, if it matches the batch numbers listed above, they should not eat the product and, instead, we ask them to discard the product in the usual household bin."
Affected customers will be able to receive a voucher for a replacement tub of ice cream by calling Ben and Jerry's customer careline on 08001465252 in the UK or 1800946272 in Ireland.
