Dani Osvaldo, Momo Sissoko and Newcastle United: the Best and Worst of the Transfer Window 28/01
Best rumour of the day
It's not often you hear of players being forced to leave a club during the transfer window but today sees Dani Osvaldo of Southampton being told to do just that.
The striker is currently suspended after head-butting team-mate Jose Fonte and could face a fine of up to £250,000, amounting to six weeks wages, if he doesn't secure a move by deadline day.
The-28-year-old Italian, who joined the club on a record £15m deal assisted by former chairman Nicola Cortese, was initially dismissed from Saints' training ground after the incident and was subsequently given a two-week suspension for misconduct.
The altercation was reported to have left defender Fonte with a black eye and suspected broken nose.
Meanwhile Southampton officials say they will not make a decision until after Friday night's deadline.
Worst rumour of the day
Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis remains positive that he can bring free agent Momo Sissoko to Selhurst Park before Friday's deadline.
The news comes after Pulis failed to capitalise on earlier talks between the former Paris Saint Germain midfielder, 29, resulting in interest instead from some of their Premier League rivals.
The Mali international, whose national side are coincidently also known as 'The Eagles' trained with Pulis' Eagles last week and, despite the breaking down of previous talks, Palace are keen to discuss terms again.
Pulis said: "He trained really well. He needs games because he's been out for a long while but he looked very fit and he looked good.
"It was a disappointing it ended in the way it did because he could be a very, very good football player for this football club.
"We might have a chance of doing it again, I'm not sure. We haven't said it's dead and buried, it's just disappointing it never got done on Friday."
