Danish Woman, 51, 'Abducted and Gang-raped' in New Delhi
Alleged victim refuses to undergo medical tests.
A 51-year-old Danish woman has alleged she was gang-raped by eight men in the Indian capital New Delhi.
The alleged victim has said she was robbed and beaten by the perpetrators before being gang-raped.
The Danish tourist, who had been visiting places in New Delhi for nearly a week, had lost her way inside the city when the incident took place. She was seeking directions to find her way back to her hotel from a group of men, who then decided to take her for a ride.
The gang abducted her to an isolated area in Connaught Place (CP), where she was robbed of electronic gadgets and cash.
"She lost her way when this incident happened. Currently, the concerned police team has identified suspects and is interrogating them. The investigation is on," police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat told AFP.
She has refused to undergo medical examination following the sexual assault. The Danish national has left India to her home country.
A case has been registered at the Paharganj police station and the Danish embassy has also been informed.
Authorities have apprehended 15 men in connection with the purported rape.
Cases of sexual assault have been frequently reported in Indian media following the gang-rape and subsequent death of a 23-year old paramedic in New Delhi in December 2012.
