David Beckham hails Marcus Rashford after Manchester United youngster's derby-day heroics
David Beckham has paid tribute to Manchester United's latest goal hero, Marcus Rashford. The former Red Devils star took to his Instagram account to help praise on the 18-year-old striker after Rashford scored the winning goal in the Manchester derby on Sunday (20 March).
Rashford continued his impressive introduction to life in the United first team by scoring against their cross-city rivals at the Etihad Stadium. Beckham, who is also an avid United fan, was quick to heap praise on the youngster.
"When a young kid that loves the club he is at and loves the game he is playing, this is what you get... The excitement in Marcus's face after scoring against our rivals is exactly what a kid his age should look like... It's refreshing and pleasing to see... Congrats to Marcus on another great day," wrote the former United hero, who also played for the likes of Real Madrid and AC Milan during his career.
Earlier this week, Rahford's club teammate Juan Mata hailed the quality of the United youngster, but warned fans not to expect too much too soon after the 1-0 win against City. "In the first half the game was even but after good play, Marcus showed again that he is a great player in the making," the Spaniard said of United's latest hero.
"We all believe in him although we must remember that he's still very young and he's just arrived in the first team. In the second half we had some good moments but at the end, as we expected, City pushed hard trying to level the score.
"However, we were able to keep the advantage and finally took the three points that put a smile on our faces before the international break. I think all of us should enjoy the good moments."
