Defoe, Moyes and Eikrem: The Best and Worst of the Transfer Window 09/01
Best Rumour of the Day
Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe looks set to sign for Major League Soccer side Toronto FC on Monday.
The news comes after England manager Roy Hodgson assured him he could still go to the World Cup in Brazil if he made the move.
It is understood that the 31-year-old will fly out to Canada to finalise proceedings this weekend and would play under head coach and former Spurs team-mate Ryan Nelsen.
Defoe is then expected to be sent back to Tottenham on loan until 1 March until the MLS season starts with an opening match against Seattle two weeks later.
Worst Rumour of the Day
David Moyes' Manchester United are in a world of trouble after losing their third game in a week having lost to Sunderland in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final.
But could the answer really be to axe old faithful's Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra along with Javier Hernandez, Nani, Anderson, Alex Buttner and Anders Lingdegaard in the summer?
This is the latest gossip coming out of the flailing side's rumour mill as Moyes looks to make his players scapegoats following the steady decline since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Many would suggest that a mass clear-out is not really the answer as the finger continues to be pointed firmly on Moyes.
