Did Angelina Jolie-wannabe 'Corpse Bride' get 50 surgeries done? Find the latest details here
Following the backlash and widespread media coverage, the Iranian teen had made her Instagram account private.
Sahar Tabar's story (rather say photos) evoked a social media meltdown at the end of November. And within days, she became famous as the 'Corpse Bride' due to her uncanny similarity with the character from the 2005 Tim Burton animation film. The 19-year-old reportedly underwent 50 surgeries in order to look like Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
Following the backlash and the widespread media coverage, the Iranian teen had made her Instagram account private.
But now, according to a fact-checking website named Snopes, an Instagram account using Tabar's name has rebuffed the reports that she experienced as many as 50 surgeries.
On 28 November, she allegedly wrote on the Instagram page: "Hello relatively dear followers, the picture that you're scrutinizing, even though I didn't like it, I kept it in ... I must say I only had [indeterminate number of] surgery, not 50 surgeries, and foreign sites and channels were very biased in the way they talked about my photos. I thought these people are probably living in the 18th century and they haven't seen or heard of technology or makeup and they are really surprised."
Soon after Tabar's images went viral on the internet, many compared her to the skeletal bride Emily of the animated musical fantasy film. Some even compared her with the zombies from the popular AMC show, The Walking Dead. Many social media users also assumed her photos to be a masterful trick of makeup or use of prosthetics or photoshop.
Earlier, reports had suggested that Tabar wanted to look like the Maleficent actress and therefore has undergone 50 surgeries.
A video posted by The Sun showed Tabar speaking Farsi. However, the Snopes reported that translation of that video found no mention of Jolie.
