Donald Trump tweets his thanks to supporters after a poll finds majority disapprove of him
Trump tweeted an image that marked his 48% approval rating.
Donald Trump took to Twitter on Thursday 25 May to celebrate a poll that showed his best approval rating in weeks.
Trump shared an image that marked his 48% approval rating as measured by Rasmussen Reports, a conservative-leaning pollster.
"Thank you for your support. Together, we will MAKE AMERICA SAFE AND GREAT AGAIN!" Trump tweeted.
Rasmussen's poll, released Thursday, showed Trump with 48% approval and 52% disapproval.
The poll comes after a number of others that placed Trump at historic lows, which have shown Trump with an approval rating under 40% and a disapproval rating of 54% or higher.
The RealClearPolitics polling average, which includes Rasmussen, shows the president with 39.9% approval and 54.1% disapproval.
Trump recently joined other NATO leaders for the annual summit in Brussels, with many headlines focused on a series of bizarre handshakes, momentary snubs and aggressive shoves during his visit to Brussels.
Trump was first seen sharing an extraordinarily aggressive handshake with newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron during their first face-to-face meeting, before being spotted shoving the Prime Minister of Montenegro out the way during a photo call.
