Dwayne Johnson releases first poster of Moana
Its time to take on the waves! Dwayne Johnson released recently the first poster for his upcoming animated film Moana. "The ocean is calling" reads the newest artwork, which shows Moana Waialiki, the adventurous teenage girl voiced by Auli'i Cravalho, and legendary demi-god Maui (Dwayne Johnson) making their way across the sea on a wooden boat.
The Fast and Furious actor posted the image on his Instagram account with the caption: "#MOANA EXCLUSIVE: Here's the first look at the incredible @DisneyAnimation movie we've been working very hard to bring to life for the world to enjoy. It's a visual and singing journey unlike anything you have ever seen before."
He also took the opportunity to inform fans that the first look teaser trailer will be released on 12 June. "And get ready.. THIS SUNDAY I'll bring you the EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK teaser trailer for #MOANA. Our journey has only just begun...," he added in the post.
The film follows the story of ambitious young navigator Moana who lives in the ancient South Pacific land known as Oceania. She teams up with her hero, a jovial demi-god known as Maui, to set sail in search of a legendary island, encountering mythological creatures and mystical lands along the way.
The Disney film has been directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, and co-stars Alan Tudyk and Hamilton's Phillipa Soo. Another member of the Broadway hit's cast, creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, has developed original songs for the movie. Moana is set to release on 23 November.
