Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson movies list: Upcoming films the former WWE wrestler will be seen in

Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, has been entertaining moviegoers ever since he stepped out of the wrestling ring to appear in The Mummy Returns in 2001. Since then, the former WWE wrestler has made a name for himself in the acting world, earning a range of prominent comic and action roles.

Here is a complete list of the the movies the 44-year-old actor will be seen in next:

1. Central Intelligence

Two former high school classmates reunite on Facebook after 20 years. The Rock plays a CIA operative, while Kevin Hart is a mild-mannered accountant, who reluctantly helps the him unravel a plot against the US.

The movie opens in theatres in the US on 17 June.

2. Moana

Disney's animated movie will see the actor lend his voice to the character Maui, a demi-god who helps explorer Moana on her journey to find a fabled island. Actress Auli'i Cravalho will be lending her voice to Moana.

The movie opens in theatres in the US on 23 November.

3. Fast and Furious 8

The actor has been part of the franchise since Fast Five, playing the role of DSS agent Luke Hobbs. Charlize Theron is joining the cast as the villain Cipher. Further plot details have not been released yet.

The movie opens in theatres in the US on 14 April 2017.

4. Baywatch

Baywatch follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, played by Dwayne Johnson, as he locks horns with a brash new recruit, played by Zack Efron. Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.

The movie releases in the US on 19 May 2017.

5. Jumanji

Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart are teaming up for the reboot of 1995 film Jumanji about a board game that transports animals and deadly plants from the jungle right to the players. The original story has three major roles but the reboot will have five.

The movie releases in the US on 28 July 2017

6. San Andreas 2

Johnson will once again reprise the role of rescue helicopter pilot Raymond, who tries to save his family from a devastating earthquake.

No release date has been announced yet.

7. Doc Savage

Shane Black has been trying to make a Doc Savage movie for a long time and now the writer/director announced that he hopes to start filming in 2017. Black has his eye on Dwayne Johnson for the lead role and The Rock too has hinted at a collaboration with Black.

8. Rampage

The Rock will be starring in a movie based on a classic 1980s video game by the same name. The game features gigantic apes and monkeys attacking a city, while avoiding the military.

9. Shazam!

According to IMBD, DC Comics's Shazam tells the story a boy who has the ability to become an adult superhero in times of need with a single magic word. Johnson will play the role of the antagonist Black Adam in the film which is expected to release in 2019.

10. The Janson Directive

The actor will be starring in Robert Ludlum's thriller The Janson Directive for Universal Pictures. The movie will see Johnson play the role of a former operative by the name of Paul Janson who gets tangled up in a conspiracy while on a mission. As of now no release date has been announced.

Other movies that the actor will appear in are Big Trouble In Little China, Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3 and 4, Alpha Squad Seven and Jungle Cruise.
