Elementary season 4: Sherlock's partnership with Watson and NYPD in jeopardy; John Noble debuts as Holmes's father
Elementary season 4 premieres on Thursday, 5 November, which will deal with the aftermath of Sherlock's relapse. In the season 3 finale, Sherlock snaps, relapses into his addictions and assaults his roommate Oscar. He also learns that his estranged father is coming to New York.
The season 4 premiere episode will find Holmes attempting to rebuild his life in the wake of his attack on Oscar and subsequent relapse, reports TVLine. The report also reveals that Sherlock's partnership with Watson and their consultancy with the NYPD are in jeopardy because of his violent actions.
However, the detective will work on the case of a missing woman as he awaits news on whether or not he will face criminal charges. The case of the missing woman allegedly killed by her husband arrives in time to distract him from the impending arrival of his estranged father, Morland Holmes (John Noble), says the report.
John Noble, best known for his role as Dr Walter Bishop in the fan favourite sci-fi series Fringe, will guest star as Holmes's wealthy, estranged father in Elementary season 4. Series creator and executive producer of Elementary, Robert Doherty said, "We could not be more delighted to have John Noble taking on such an important role.
"We've enjoyed his work for many years now—especially his tremendous run on 'Fringe'—and cannot wait to see him opposite Jonny and Lucy. It's going to be an exciting season."
About Sherlock and his father's relationship, Rob Doherty told TVLine, "In the first season, we made a point of saying that Dad never shows up when he says he will. But I think it's time. I would very much like to meet Dad and explore this very complicated dynamic that we've been alluding to over the last two seasons."
"There's a lot to get out of a longer-term story about Sherlock and his father and everything between them," the creator added.
