Ellen DeGeneres pressured to leave talk show by Portia De Rossi 'to focus on her family'
US talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres is allegedly being "pressured" to quit her talk show by her wife Portia De Rossi.
According to a report in Radar Online, the 42-year-old Ally McBeal star wants DeGeneres to concentrate on their family life more and quit as host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"Ellen's contract is up in 2017 and she has told her staff that she does not know if she is going to renew it," a source said. "Everyone on the staff is just freaking out over this."
De Rossi "asked Ellen to not renew her contract so that she can be a better wife to her. She told her that she needs to focus on her family".
"When Portia comes into the studio lately, she is not as nice to everyone as she used to be," the insider said. "She seems to really resent the show and everyone who works there."
"Ellen does not need to do the show any more because she has more money than God," the source added. "And Portia told her that she has already interviewed everyone there is to interview and the act just seems to be getting old."
DeGeneres married the Australian-American actress in 2008. However, there have been several reports since 2013 that the couple's marriage was on shaky grounds.
DeGeneres has done her best to quash the divorce rumours.
"The tabloids had a photo of Portia not wearing her wedding ring. She goes, 'I didn't wear it because when I ride horses and I'm holding the reins, it gives me a blister!'" DeGeneres told People last year in March.
"The truth is, and this is corny, I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time," she said.
"It's what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We're really lucky because we know how rare it is," DeGeneres added.
