Emmy Awards 2012 Best Dressed: Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, Nicole Kidman Turn Heads at Red Carpet

The most glamorous Hollywood stars were on show during the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. The red carpet saw various shades of blue, in homage to the season's trend of bold colors and asymmetrical styles.

One of several head-turners was Modern Family star Sofia Vergara, who shone in a teal-green Zuhair Murad gown with a halter-top neckline. The Colombian actress kept the rest of her outfit simple, opting for Neil Lane jewels and left her hair open. Australian actress Nicole Kidman (who was accompanied by husband Keith Urban) looked elegant in a white Antonio Berardi Spring 2013 gown with blue sequin embroidery, peacock-blue Christian Louboutin "Vampanodo" sandals and Fred Leighton carved lavender, jade and diamond pendant earrings.

German supermodel Heidi Klum showed off toned legs in a light blue Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2012 outfit. The dress was paired with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and a matching clutch and shoes. Hayden Panettiere was also present and the 23 year old looked lovely in a gold-embroidered Marchesa gown with blue tulle overlay. She wore Harry Winston jewellery, Giuseppe Zanotti heels and carried a Judith Leiber bag.

Claire Danes, who won Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for her role as CIA officer Carrie Mathison in Homeland, looked magnificent in a Lanvin canary yellow strapless and draped silk gown from the Ete 2013 Pre-Collection. She matched that with Gold Barbara Bui sandals and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Zooey Deschanel, who took to the stage with actor Jim Parsons to present an award, looked gorgeous in a custom-made strapless sweetheart neckline Reem Acra gown. She accessorised her outfit with Forevermark earrings and opted for Jimmy Choos; fuchsia pink lips and a bouffant low bun completed the look.

Finally, Ginnifer Goodwin wore a Monique Lhuillier Resort 2013 gown paired with Rona Pfeiffer and Graziela jewels. The orange floral embroidered sleeveless nude high-low hem gown with an orange leather belt suited the actress well. A Ferragamo clutch and red Christian Louboutin 'Bis Un Bout' pumps completed the look.

"I think everyone kind of got the memo," Emmy Award-winning stylist David Zyla said, of the evening's fashion, "Overall, I saw a very modern approach. It felt very chic...Everything was very beautiful and very elegant."
