Emotional video shows 15-year-old heart transplant patient 'so happy' to be alive after surgery
15-year-old Trevor Sullivan's father caught the emotional moment on video just after his son woke up from life-saving heart transplant surgery. The teen from Michigan told his father he was "so happy" in the video above.
According to CNN, Trevor became ill in 2014 but what his family thought was a cold was in fact diagnosed as heart failure. In December 2015 a heart finally became available and Trevor was able to undergo the life-saving surgery. As yet, there have been no complications from the surgery.
Trevor's family post updates for Trevor's condition on a Facebook page called TEAM TREVOR, where they actively campaign to get more people to sign up as organ donors. There is also a GoFundMe page set up to help the family deal with the financial stress of the surgery.
The Facebook page describes Trevor as: "An 8th grader at Berkshire Middle School, is the oldest of 4 children. He is a Boy Scout, first class badge and actively involved in his church National Shrine of the Little Flower. At school, he plays Tuba in the band and was a member of the football team. Trevor was planning to start weight lift training right before he fell ill."
