Empire season 2 episode 6 will not air this Wednesday: Will Hakeem return home unscathed?
Empire season 2 will go on a brief one-week hiatus and return with a new episode next Wednesday 4 November at 9pm ET/PT on Fox. Episode 6 tilted, A High Hope For A Low Heaven, will deal with Hakeem's kidnapping as Lucious and Cookie team up to find their youngest son. Besides, Jamal will try to get over his rough breakup with Michael by writing some new music.
The official synopsis reads as follows:
Lucious and Cookie must put aside their differences and work together as parents to protect their family and keep them out of danger. Jamal does his best to get back in the studio and break away from being defined solely as a gay artist, while Hakeem struggles with how to feel and act like a man. Meanwhile, Andre works to shut down a division at Empire, until he discovers a disciple in the midst of Lucious' Gutter Life records in the all-new A High Hope for a Low Heaven episode of Empire.
The previous episode ended with Hakeem getting kidnapped by some goons while he is out jogging.
A new promo for the upcoming episode shows Cookie, who is unaware of Hakeem's kidnapping, calling her son, "Hakeem Lyon, this is my fifth time calling you. You better not be ducking me."
Later, she gets a video message which shows Hakeem tied up, and immediately heads over to Lyon's mansion and shows it to Lucious and Jamal. The kidnappers has covered Hakeem's face in a black cloth.
We see Cookie and Lucious leaving as Jamal says, "I am coming too." But Cookie says no to his offer and Lucious points out, "The further you stay away from this the better. They will take you too."
Then Lucious and Cookie get another video message from Hakeem, where he says, "I am still alive. This video is proof, I am still here." We see Cookie frantically opening a car door, as Lucious kicks someone in the van. Hakeem refuses to be cowed down by his abductors but is hit on the head by one of the goons.
Do Lucious and Thirsty have anything to do with Hakeem being kidnapped? Showrunner Ilene Chaiken told Variety: "Well, I think you'll have to wait until episode six to find out."
The showrunner said, "It's got a trade term — it's called a snatch-and-grab. It happens in the music business, in all kinds of celebrity business, but particularly in the hip-hop business. It really is the story in episode six, but the issue of whether or not Lucious and Thirsty have something to do with it is key to the story."
Will Cookie and Lucious save Hakeem? Will the youngest Lyon return home unscathed? We will have to wait till next week to find out.
