Overview
Australia had a chance to seal the series in the third ODI, which they lost. The fourth ODI at Headingley, Leeds, saw the Three Lions register a three-wicket victory with 10 balls to spare. After winning the toss, Steven Smith elected to bat first. A top order collapse followed by good knocks from Glen Maxwell (85) and George Bailey (75), and an unbeaten 50 from Matthew Wade saw Australia reach 299 runs in their 50 overs.
In reply, England lost Alex Hales very early in the innings. However, every top order batsman chipped in with captain Eoin Morgan leading from the front. He emerged the top scorer (92) and was named the man of the match. The team that wins the final ODI will win the series. England sealed the last ODI series against New Zealand in the final match.
