England v Sri Lanka: Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan and Sam Robson Given Maiden Test Call Ups
England have included uncapped trio Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan and Sam Robson in their 12-man squad for the first test against Sri Lanka at Lord's.
Yorkshire's Liam Plunkett is recalled for the first time in seven years while wicket-keeper Matt Prior has proven his fitness ahead of the series, beating off competition from Jos Buttler and James Foster.
Chris Woakes is recalled to the squad for the first time since the fifth Ashes Test against Australia last summer but Ben Stokes misses out as he continues to recover from a hand injury suffered in the winter.
National selector James Whitaker said: "We would also like to acknowledge the contribution of both the County and England Performance Programme coaches in helping to develop the talents of Sam Robson, Liam Plunkett, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes.
"We believe that this group of emerging talent will be very well complimented by the established core of experienced players that have been selected.
"We are expecting a tough series against Sri Lanka and the Selectors would like to wish Peter Moores, Alastair Cook, the coaches and players all the best for a good performance."
