Overview
Scotland are without a win in this World Cup and their hope of a victory over Sri Lanka ended when the 1996 World Champions registered a win on Wednesday. In comparison, England and Afghanistan have managed one win each in this edition of the World Cup.
The lone win for both the Three Lions and the Asian side in this tournament came against Scotland. Afghanistan managed to win their first World Cup match against the Scots and a win over the English side will be a massive boost for them.
On the other hand, England were knocked out of the World Cup after their defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the last fixture. The Tigers posted a defendable total of 275 runs from 50 overs.
In reply, England lost wickets at regular intervals and only Ian Bell (63) managed to score at the top. Even with Jos Buttler's 65 and Chris Woakes' unbeaten 42 lower down the order, Eoin Morgan's side could not register a victory. The English side suffered a 15-run defeat when they were bowled out for 260 runs.
A win over Afghanistan will be a consolation for England and failing to do so will only compound their misery after their World Cup exit.
