England will be favourites when they take on group F's bottom-placed club Malta at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday. The Three Lions are currently in the second place in the group behind neighbours Scotland, who are above them owing to a superior goal difference following their 5-1 win in their first game against the same opponents.

Gareth Southgate is preparing for his first game in-charge of the senior team after taking over on a temporary basis following Sam Allardyce's unceremonious exit. The former Middlesbrough boss has been managing the U21 team thus far, but will be given a fair crack to nail down the managerial position on a permanent basis.

Harry Kane and Nathaniel Clyne are missing for the clash owing to injury which could see Marcus Rashford return to the starting lineup after being omitted from the squad that faced Slovakia in their first qualifier last month.
