England vs West Indies, ICC T20 World Cup 2016: Twitter reacts after Carlos Brathwaite helps lift trophy
West Indies defeated England in a nail-biting finish of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 as four sixes from Carlos Brathwaite in the final over saw the Caribbean side win the tournament for the second time. They won by four wickets with two balls to spare on Ben Stokes' final over.
It was Joe Root's fine performance with the bat that helped England post a total of 155 runs, losing nine wickets in the process. He also contributed with the ball as he dismissed both West Indies openers Johnson Charles and Chris Gayle in the second over of the chase.
Marlon Samuels impressed for West Indies, but it was Brathwaite's sixes in the last over, when his side needed 19 runs, that mattered the most. Two sixes off the first two balls of Stokes' over put the pressure back on England and it was followed by one more six. He finished the match with a six as he and Samuels remained unbeaten at 34 and 85 runs respectively.
