CCTV footage has been released which shows the terrifying moment a manhole cover explosion just misses a child in Birmingham.
The young girl was walk with two adults down Warwick Road in the city, when the manhole cover suddenly shoots out of the ground right beside her. Narrowly avoiding the child, the blast caused no injuries.
West Midlands Fire Service are now investigating the cause of the explosion, which is believed to have been caused by a build-up of gas in an adjacent manhole.
The mother of the two-year-old girl said it is "a miracle" that she escaped injury when the manhole exploded.
