FC Koln deny Liverpool bid £12m for German international Jonas Hector
FC Koln have rubbished reports that Liverpool have bid for their highly-rated full-back Jonas Hector. Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp has been heavily linked with a move for the Germany international over recent months, as he looks to sure up the Reds' leaky defence.
Hector, 26, is well regarded in Germany and is a key part of the Koln team. But sporting boss Jorg Schmadtke has dismissed reports that Liverpool have made a £12m ($17.2m) move for his services and suggested that the rumoured fee is well below Hector's true value.
"There is no offer from Liverpool. The rumoured fee sum we see that it can not be a serious matter," he told Bild in response to reports of interest from Liverpool.
Hector has been named in Germany's squad for their Euro 2016 campaign and according to reports, any thoughts of a move to Liverpool will be put on hold until after the tournament. Germany begin their campaign against Ukraine on Sunday (12 June), with the reported Liverpool target hoping to be selected by coach Joachim Low.
