Fear The Walking Dead premiere: Producer talks timeline and possible crossover with The Walking Dead
Fear The Walking Dead will finally answer the most trivial question of what happened to the world during Rick's coma.
Producers of the AMC original series have revealed that the entire undead apocalypse will begin five to six weeks before Rick Grimes's coma in The Walking Dead. However, FTWD will not talk about Atlanta.
The entire apocalypse will be showcased through the eyes of the extremely dysfunctional family of Travis and his fiancée Madison. The zombie virus will hit Los Angeles turning each living human into an undead walker just when the family starts mending its relationships.
"By the end of season 1, we definitely know the world has changed, but we're not at the same place where Rick woke up," executive producer David Erickson told EW during the Television Critics Association's press tour.
Erickson also divulged details about the timeline of the upcoming zombie horror series and a possible crossover with its companion series The Walking Dead.
"There's still a window of time, we'll have some real estate left. Rick's coma was about 4 to 5 weeks. If you track our story, we probably go three weeks over the course of our first season. There is a time that may come that we catch up, and there may be a season where we do a major time cut. The thinking right now in season 1 and the writers' room for season 2 isn't about how do we intersect them how or catch up with the original show?"
Here is the synopsis of the pilot episode and episode 2.
A highly dysfunctional blended family is forced together when they realise a reported virus is actually the beginning of the undead apocalypse.
FTWD season 1 episode 2 - Close, Yet So Far
While Madison struggles to keep Nick from crippling withdrawal, Travis ventures out to find his son before the city of Los Angeles falls.
Fear The Walking Dead is scheduled to premiere an extended 90-minute episode on 23 August at 9pm ET/PT on AMC.
