The 13th edition of the 2016 Fifa Club World Cup is underway in Japan and the final will take place on 18 December. The winners of six continental confederations and the winner of the national league of the host nation will fight against each other to win the tournament.

Real Madrid won the Champions League after defeating Atletico Madrid in the 2015/16 season's Champions League final. The 11-time European winners won the Fifa Club World Cup in 2014, where they defeated San Lorenzo in the final in Morocco.

Zinedine Zidane will want to ensure that the Spanish capital club achieve success for the second time in the tournament. On the other hand, arch rivals Barcelona have won the Fifa Club World Cup thrice, which is a record in the tournament's history. A victory for the Champions League winners on 18 December will see them get closer to the Catalan club's record.

Atletico Nacional have booked their place after winning the 2016 Copa Libertadores. The Colombia outfit and Real will make it directly to the semi-final of the tournament, where they will play two matches.

They have been joined by South Korean outfit Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who are the winners of the 2016 AFC Champions League. Mamelodi Sundowns will represent Africa as they sealed a berth in this year's tournament after winning the 2016 CAF Champions League. Club America joins Auckland City and Kashima Antlers.
