Overview
Belgium made it through to the knockout stage of the competition as winners of Group H with maximum points. Marc Wilmots' side managed to beat Korea Republic in their final fixture despite being dominated by the Asian side for the majority of the game.
Midfielder Steven Defour was shown a straight red card just before half-time for a stamp on Kim Shin-wook. After some sensational attempts from both sides, the breakthrough came for the Red Devils in the 78th minute.
Divock Origi's strike from outside the box was parried by Kim Seung-gyu but Jan Vertonghen was the quickest to react to the loose ball and slot home the winner. The result helped Algeria take second place in the group with four points at the expense of the Taegeuk Warriors.

Meanwhile, USA sealed their place among the 16 teams despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat against Germany in their final group stage fixture.
They finished as runners-up in Group G ahead of Portugal and Ghana. All four teams had a chance to qualify for the knockouts coming into their final group stage fixture. Germany and USA had four points each while the remaining two teams had one each.
The loss didn't affect Jurgen Klinsmann's side as Portugal only managed a 2-1 victory over Ghana. USA held a superior goal difference of zero as opposed to Paulo Bento's side, which held a three goal deficit.
Both Belgium and USA have scored four goals in the previous round and both their managers will be stressing on the importance of getting an early goal to put pressure on the opposition.
The winning camp from this clash will lock horns at the Estadio Nacional, Brasilia on Saturday either against Argentina or Switzerland for a place in the semi-final.
What Managers Say
Marc Wilmots (Belgium): "It's no easy task to finish the group stage with nine points. It's a truly historic achievement for Belgium, and I'd like to congratulate the staff and all the players. We're here to win, not to play beautiful football, and we've accomplished our mission. My players will give everything for Belgium Physically they are very strong. We are preparing for a war. My players will be fresh when they face the United States and that will be important because the Americans are very fit and athletic."
Jurgen Klinsmann (USA): "We have enough confidence now going into this game - a very special one, a knockout game - to say we are able to beat them. Belgium are one of the secret favourites in this World Cup because of the players, individual players, that they have. We have absolutely no fear at all. We feel like we are in a position now to challenge. We believe we have built a foundation in our team that we are able to beat them."
