Fifa World Cup 2014: Brazil Will Beat Netherlands for Third Place, says Google
Over the last few weeks, Microsoft's Cortana has been extremely accurate in predicting the winners of matches in the 2014 Fifa World Cup. However, the virtual assistant hasn't offered a prediction for the third place game between the Netherlands and Brazil, which is scheduled to take place today.
Owing to this, we at IBTimes UK have turned to Google for a prediction and the search engine believes that Brazil has a slight advantage over the Netherlands in the third place game.
"Oh, and we think Brazil has a tiny advantage in the third place game", said Google in a blog post. "They may have had a disappointing defeat on Tuesday, but their numbers still look good."
Cortana simply served up search results when asked the question, as opposed to her usual predictions for match outcomes. However, she has a solid prediction for the World Cup 2014 final and has picked a winner in the Germany vs Argentina encounter. Read about it here.
Google believes that Germany has a slight edge over Argentina in the final and that the European football powerhouse might just win the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
Though we think it's going to be close, Germany has the edge: our model gives them a 55 percent chance of defeating Argentina. Both teams have had excellent tournaments so far, but the model favours Germany for a number of factors. Thus far in the tournament, they've had better passing in the attacking half of their field, a higher number of shots (64 vs. 61) and a higher number of goals scored (17 vs. 8).
