Overview

France sealed a place in the World Cup in a brilliant fashion after defeating Ukraine 3-2 on aggregate during the play-offs last November. The Blues lost the first leg 2-0 away from home before winning the return leg 3-0.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho's brace was sandwiched between Karim Benzema's strike helping France make it to the summer tournament in Brazil. Didier Deschamps would be hoping to start the World Cup on a brighter note with a win in Porto Alegre on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Honduras have made it to the two consecutive World Cup for the first time in their history. During the last edition in South Africa, the Central American nation were knocked out of the group stages.

Honduras is managed by Luis Fernando Suárez and their coach would be hoping for an upset against France in the opening fixture on Sunday. The other two teams from Group E, Switzerland and Ecuador will face each other in the one of the three fixtures scheduled for the day.
