Fifi Geldof marries in church where mother Paula and sister Peaches are buried
Bitter-sweet service attended by Peaches widower Thomas Cohen and his two young sons.
Sir Bob Geldof's eldest daughter Fifi Geldof got married at the same church where her mother and sister are buried on Saturday (3 September). The 33-year-old media-shy bride married her long-term partner Andrew Robertson at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence church in Davington, Kent, – next door to her father's country home – after being engaged for two years.
The church holds some profound memories for the family as both Fifi's tragic mother, Paula Yates, and younger sister, Peaches Geldof, are buried in the grounds.
Perhaps choosing the venue to keep her deceased loved ones somewhat included in the ceremony, Fifi beamed with happiness in a recently emerged picture alongside her new husband.
The brunette, who works in PR, looked resplendent in an off-shoulder lace wedding gown and managed to look on-trend with the shoulder-baring design while traditional and elegant.
She completed the bridal look with a lace veil and wore her hair in a classy half-up, half-down style. For a quirky touch, she matched her lilac manicure with a purple-toned bouquet as family and friends threw petal confetti over her and sculptor Andrew in the shot.
Pursuing the purple theme, groom Andrew put the final touches on his pinstripe suit with a purple tie and pocket square, while looking handsome with his long hair and beard in tow.
Peaches' widower, Thomas Cohen, led the arrivals at the picturesque ceremony in Kent in a blue flared trouser suit with his two children Phaedra, four, and Astala, three, but appeared to be in high spirits despite bidding farewell to their mother in the same church in 2014, who died aged 25 from a heroin overdose.
Fifi's mother, Paula Yates – a once television presenter – is also buried there after similarly dying of a heroin overdose in 2000 at the age of 41.
Guests were asked to hand over their cameras and phones before being allowed to enter the church grounds and security guards placed the valuables into clear plastic bags, ensuring no social media activities went on during the traditional nuptials.
Other familiar faces at the wedding included former Made in Chelsea star Ashley James, who looked divine in a blue co-ord outfit by Studio HJ, along with TV star and pianist Jools Holland in a double-breasted checked suit.
While holding some sad memories, the Geldof family have seen a few other marriages at the same church including Bob and Paula's blessing in 1986 following their Las Vegas wedding, along with Peaches and Thomas' nuptials in 2012. Bob decided to wed his actress girlfriend of 18 years, Jeanne Marine, in a ceremony with friends and family in Nice, France, in September 2015.
