First Day of Wimbledon Championships
Now the football championships are almost over, it is time to say 'anyone for tennis'. Wimbledon threw open its doors over the weekend, for the 126th year of the world's premier tennis tournament, where we have been promised a lull in Britain's summer monsoon weather.
Thousands of people queued to get tickets for the first day that sees the men's and women's singles in full swing. This US man was confused after queuing a whopping 24 hours
So far the Defending champion and world number one Novak Djokovic has gone through to the second round after beating former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain in straight sets, in the opening match. Maria Sharapova is playing against Anastasia Rodionova .Venus Williams has lost to Elena Vesnina. While Federer, Clijsters & Golding will all feature later today. Another Brit has bitten the dust though as Josh Goodall has lost to Grega Zemlja Big guns Nadal, Murray and Kvitova are all due to start tomorrow.
