The Flash season 3: Grant Gustin confirms Flashpoint storyline, shares title of premiere episode
After a lot of speculation and rumours about The Flash adapting the Flashpoint storyline for season 3, Grant Gustin – who plays Barry Allen/Flash on the show – has officially confirmed the news, and revealed the title for the premiere episode of season 3.
Gustin in a series of tweets said: "Just finished reading episode 3-01 titled JK NOT GONNA TELL YOU YET! I'm SO excited to get back to work in 2 weeks. #TheFlashSeason3"
Later, the actor teased that season 3 is "going to be lit" and went on to reveal the title for season 3 episode 1, which confirms the Flashpoint storyline.
He then followed it up with another tweet: "We're definitely doing this FP [Flashpoint] thing our own way.. I've read Flashpoint, I've seen the amazing animated film. This will be its own thing."
Flashpoint is a 2011 comic book crossover story arc written by Geoff Johns. In The comics, Barry Allen wakes up to discover everything and everyone around him has changed. Barry is no longer a speedster and his mother Nora (who died in his own timeline) is alive. Captain Cold is Central City's greatest hero, and the Flash, the Justice League do not exist in the alternate timeline.
Previously, Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon/Vibe teased the plot for The Flash season 3 could involve the Flashpoint universe. He said, "I think there's every chance of a Flashpoint paradox. Some people expressed reservation about that, like: 'Why are we going there?' And some people are all about it. I can say, without a doubt, wherever we go from here, it's going to be unique and it's going to be different."
The 27-year-old actor urged fans to have faith in the show and shared, "It's going to honor the original chronology and the original lore while at the same time providing a new spin on it and I think it's that spirit that's allowed our shows to do as well as they do so I ask the fandom to have faith."
The Flash season 3 premieres on 4 October on The CW network.
