The Flash season 3: How Barry became Savitar? Here are some fan theories

The Flash season 3 in this Tuesday's episode revealed that Savitar is evil Barry Allen from the future and the Star Labs team will take umpteen measures to prevent Barry from turning into the Speed Of God in the upcoming episodes.

However, there is one question that fans want to be answered in upcoming episodes – how Barry becomes Savitar in the future? Some fan theories suggest that the entire Savitar reveal is fake, while others claim that evil Barry is a time remnant.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg promised answers about Barry turning into Savitar in the upcoming episodes. He told Entertainment Weekly, "You get that in the next episode, and the mystery is ongoing, but obviously, Savitar is a version of Barry Allen, a heavily scarred version."

Here are a few fan theories about how Barry became Savitar:

1. Reddit user posted a fan theory, which claims that the revelation was "quite too easy" and that there is "more to it than meets the eye". The post reads, "I know the Savitar reveal made it seem that Savitar is a version of Barry from the future, but I have a feeling that there's something more to it than meets the eye. The reveal we had was quite too easy. My take is that it's probably someone who's masquerading as Barry from the future. (similar to how Simon Morrisson was going under the fake name of "Adrian Chase").

The post continued:

I mean, let's also take a look at the past big bads shall we? We all thought that the man in yellow is Harrison Wells but turns out he was really Eobard Thawne. We all thought that Zoom is Jay Garrick but turns out he was really Hunter Zolomon. There's gotta be at least a swerve to this "Savitar is a future version of Barry" reveal.

2. Another fan theory suggests that Savitar is a time remnant that Barry used to try to stop Savitar, but the Speed God beat the time remnant to the point of almost death and disfigured him. A reddit user wrote, "So basically Barry got Barry to fight with him against Barry but Barry psychically and mentally broke Barry so badly that he became Barry and now he wants to ruin Barry's life just like Barry did to him. That's the way it is going to be."

3. When Barry traveled back to future in Flash season 2 finale and created a new timeline called Flashpoint, which may have created Savitar. A fan theory on Reddit suggests, "My thoughts on Barry is Savitar is that it is Barry from flashpoint when Barry split the timeline and created flashpoint he created that version of himself the version that lost everything and everyone near and dear to him."

Furthering explaining his theory, the user urged, "This would help explain the reason he can give people powers from the alternative timeline. Savitar/Barry is the version of Barry that has ignored Jay Garrick advise and tied to fix the timeline over and over again and that is all that is left of him is the cracks and if he can't have anything neither should Barry."
