Flight AA135: Mid-air emergency sends Los Angeles bound flight back to London Heathrow

An American Airlines flight heading to Los Angeles is returning to London after declaring an emergency.
Flight AA135 was due to land in Los Angeles at around 03:00am GMT after taking off from London Heathrow airport at 12:25pm on 15 November, 2014.
However, the flight turned around as it made its way over the Atlantic Ocean after calling in an emergency and is now making its way back to the London airport.
It was later confirmed he flight was forced to turn around after a passenger was taken ill on board.

It is not clear why the plane could not land at a closer airport than London.
