Florida couple arrested for leaving boy in a trailer without food, furniture for 2 months
The boy who was kept in the trailer told authorities that he hadn't attended school for months.
A Florida couple has been arrested for allegedly leaving a boy without food and furniture in a trailer for about two months.
The woman, who rented the trailer to Jennifer Nichols (34 ) and Joshua Sanders (32) at the beginning of September, said that she had realised the child was living there alone, though the couple would occasionally bring him food and money.
When she contacted the couple to ask about the boy, Sanders told her it was none of her business as long as he paid the rent, the investigators were told.
The boy who was kept in the trailer told authorities that he hadn't attended school for months.
He also said that he didn't have any furniture and only had clothes and shoes in the trailer.
The Florida Department of Children and Families told the Pensacola News Journal that they were involved in several cases concerning the boy.
Officials didn't say how old the boy was or how he was related to Nichols or Sanders.
The boy said that he didn't know who the caseworkers were, according to the website.
Nichols and Sanders who were arrested on 30 November have been charged with one count of neglecting a child causing great bodily harm. They remained jailed on Monday (11 December), the Daily Mail reported.
