Former Casualty Star Rebekah Gibbs Dies After Long Cancer Battle
Former Casualty star Rebekah Gibbs has died following her long battle with breast cancer.
The 41-year-old was best known for her role as nurse Nina Farr on the BBC hospital drama in which she appeared in more than 100 episodes between 2004 and 2006.
Her agent Belfield and Ward announced the news on Twitter: "Darling Rebekah Gibbs, a true inspiration and dazzling light, never to be forgotten."
She was first diagnosed with grade three breast cancer in January 2008, just weeks after giving birth to her daughter Gigi.
Speaking to the BBC in 2010 she said: "I won't get cocky though and I take each day as it comes. I am always a little unsure about the future."
The actress had been given the five-year all clear in 2013. But in April she had a huge seizure when she was in Devon with her family.
"Within an hour I was in A&E. I was quickly diagnosed with two brain tumours, plus one in the neck and a lesion on my lung," she said
Neighbours said the star died in a hospice on Remembrance Sunday.
Her friend Coronation Street actress Hayley Tamaddon tweeted: "So many memories.. We will never forget you Becky. Keep twinkling. Wherever you are."
Actor James Rammond said: "So sad to hear lovely Rebekah Gibbs has passed away. She lit up every room with her smile & positivity R.I.P."
