Microsoft and developer Turn 10 Studios announced Forza Motorsport 6 for Xbox One last night (12 January, 2014).

They teamed with the Ford Motor Company at the North American International Auto Show to jointly announce the game and its cover star, the new Ford GT supercar.

The new car as well as other Ford models such as the Shelby GT350 and F-150 Raptor will be playable in the game, which if released this year will mark the third straight year a Forza game has been released on Microsoft's console.

Further details were light on the ground. More information will be revealed later this year – probably at E3 in June.

Last year Forza Horizon 2 – developed by Playground Games, who made the original - was one of Microsoft's three major exclusives for the console released ahead of the Christmas period.
