Forza Motorsport 6 Apex: Free-to-play 'slimmed down' PC version of Xbox racer leaks
Update: Microsoft has confirmed Forza Motorsport 6: Apex for PC. It is indeed a free-to-play game and will support 4K resolution. The news was confirmed on Microsoft's website.
"Forza Motorsport 6: Apex features a new objective and scoring system, which challenges the player to grow their skill and compare scores with their friends, and each event is a completely unique experience with unending replay value."
Original story: Microsoft looks set to release a PC version of Forza Motorsport 6 on PC, according to an article published by The Seattle Times. Sub-titled Apex, the game "will be released free to users of Windows 10 this spring."
The article, since removed but still available in cached form, revealed the game's existence in an article about Microsoft recommitting itself to PC. Developed by Turn 10 Studios, Apex is "a slimmed down version of its Xbox cousin" but no further details were offered.
Xbox exclusives coming to PC is not surprising. Since the announcement and subsequent launch of Windows 10 last year, Microsoft has created closer ties between its Xbox One platform and PC.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition and Gigantic are both getting PC releases this year, and in February Microsoft announced that third person action game Quantum Break would be released on PC at the same time as its console release in April. Later this year Halo Wars 2 will be released on PC, and it has been rumoured that Gears of War 4 will follow suit.
