Galaxy Note Edge to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop in February and Galaxy Alpha by March 2015
New details revealing the Android Lollipop update schedule for two Samsung Galaxy devices have surfaced.
According to tweets by founder of Sammobile, D Dorresteijn -- considered a reliable source for Samsung related leaks -- the Galaxy Note Edge, the curved screen variant of Galaxy Note 4 launched with the latest Android KitKat version 4.4.4, will receive Google's Android Lollipop dessert treatment in February next year.
This is when the unlocked variant of the Note Edge will receive the update, whereas carrier-variant devices usually get it slightly later than unlocked models, reports PhoneaArena.
Dorresteijn further asserts that the Android 5.0 update will be released for Galaxy Alpha, the latest Galaxy smartphone with a compact body having metal framing, in Q1 2015, which means sometime in March next year.
The Galaxy S4 as well as Note 3 will be updated to Lollipop around the same time.
The new disclosure fall in the line with previous reports, according to which Galaxy devices such as Note 4, Galaxy S5 LTE-A, Note 3 and Galaxy S4 will get the Android Lollipop update in early 2015.
Samsung has already released the Lollipop update starting with the international European variant of Galaxy S5 bearing model number SM-G900F.
The first Galaxy S5 users to receive the update are from Poland. The update is now available for all major carriers in the South Korea such as KT, SK Telecom and LG U+.
