Game Of Thrones season 5: Finale synopsis released; what does the title Mother's Mercy mean?
Game Of Thrones season 5 episode 9 and 10 synopses have been released by HBO, giving fans a hint as to what they can expect from the final two episodes of this season.
The official description of episode 9 titled The Dance Of Dragons reads: Stannis (Stephen Dillane) confronts a troubling decision. Jon (Kit Harington) returns to The Wall. Mace (Roger Ashton-Griffiths) visits the Iron Bank. Arya (Maisie Williams) encounters someone from her past. Dany (Emilia Clarke) reluctantly oversees a traditional celebration of athleticism.
The episode will air on 7 June at 9pm ET on HBO.
The finale episode of season 5 is titled Mother's Mercy and with a rather vague official description, fans are speculating that the biggest spoiler about the episode lies in the title itself.
"Stannis marches. Dany is surrounded by strangers. Cersei (Lena Headey) seeks forgiveness. Jon is challenged," reads HBO's synopsis.
The finale episode title points to a quote from the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce), who explained to Cersei during the seventh episode that Mother's Mercy was something bestowed upon a person who is accused of sinning against the odds.
While the title has given rise to several plot theories - the most popular one remains the Lady Stoneheart story arc which involves Catelyn Stark's resurrected form seeking revenge for all the wrong done to her family.
"Those who have read the books have noted that Lady Stoneheart, the resurrected spirit of Catelyn Stark, is otherwise known as Mother's Mercy," reports The Telegraph.
