Game Of Thrones season 6 finale: Fan theories on Littlefinger and Sansa's wedding
Episode 10, Winds Of Winter will reveal Petyr Baelish's motive and Sansa's reaction to it.
Game Of Thrones season 6 finale is upon us and after the glorious victory of the House Stark over Ramsay Bolton, there are plenty of other characters who would need a closure until the season 8 premiere. But it appears Sansa Stark is hogging all the limelight post the pre-finale, especially after lighting the beacon in the Battle Of The Bastards.
It was the eldest Stark daughter, who requested Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen), also known as Littlefinger and the Lord Protector of the Vale, to bring his army to fight the Boltons. Her wish was granted and the Knights of the Vale crushed Ramsay's army and helped the Starks reclaim Winterfell.
But the help will come with a price and as shown in the season finale promo, Littlefinger will demand something huge from Ned Stark's daughter. "What do you want," Sansa asks the Lord Protector of the Vale, to which he answers, "I thought you knew what I wanted."
The scene has sparked multiple fan theories about Littefinger's obsession with power and how he is using the Starks as a means, from the beginning of the series, to achieve the end he wants.
A Reddit user going by the name kateshakes, suspects that Sansa is pregnant with Ramsay's baby and the power hungry Baelish will use her situation in his favour. According to the popular theory, Sansa "can't let people know the child is a Bolton" and hence will accept the Lord Protector's offer to marry him.
However, if Sansa agrees to the proposal, Petyr still needs to get rid of Jon Snow, and the Redditor seems to have a theory regarding that as well. According to him, Littlefinger may know the secret of Jon's bloodline and will divulge the details to the former Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.
Here is what the user says about the whole Sansa-Petyr-Jon theory:
I think Baelish will use the fact he has a Stark child to his advantage — typical Littlefinger. My theory is that he will use the child to essentially become head of Winterfell, taking the lands as his own in favour of raising Sansa's child as his own.
So I believe that Baelish will become The King of the North, and after Jon Snow is (I'm pretty sure) revealed to be the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, will use this hold he has over the Starks, for both their lives and raising baby Bolton, to ultimately attempt to become the Ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.
But there are many loopholes in this theory, and the first one is Sansa's rumoured pregnancy. While speaking with TV Guide, Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos in the HBO fantasy series, dismissed the pregnancy theory. He said, "I would imagine it's open to whatever you want it to be, but I think he's saying he's put himself into her head. That's what I took from it. She's never gonna get rid of him because of what he's done to her. He knows what he's done to her. It was off camera, what he was doing to her, but we all know what it was. But I think he's placed himself in her soul for all the wrong reasons."
In the same Reddit discussion thread, one users claimed that Sansa's transformation is what Ramsay meant when he claimed that he is a part of her now. "I think when Ramsey says 'I'm part of you now' it's meant metaphorically. Psychologically she's changed now because of her experiences and in particular because of the hell that Ramsey put her through, she's a changed person now, she's lost her innocence and is becoming more cunning, plotting, even deceitful."
While these are just speculations, die-hard fans of the show are aware that nothing is predictable and anything can happen in the world of Game Of Thrones, especially as we all know that Sansa has learned the tricks of "survival and ruling", and could give a major blow to Baelish.
Game Of Thrones season 6 finale, Winds Of Winter will air on Sunday (26 June) on HBO.
