Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo out of Real Madrid Super Cup final with Sevilla
Keylor Navas, Toni Kross, Pepe and Jese Rodriguez will also miss the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Keylor Navas, Gareth Bale, Toni Kross, Pepe and Jese Rodriguez are set to miss the Uefa Super Cup after having been left out of Real Madrid's 20-man squad to face Sevilla on Tuesday night (9 August). Manager Zinedine Zidane has called on academy striker Mariano and his son Luca Zidane to complete the travelling squad, who will travel to Norway ahead of their first official game of the campaign.
The Real Madrid boss had previously ruled Ronaldo and Navas out of the game due to injuries. The Portuguese international, who injured his knee in Portugal's victory over France in the Euro 2016 final on July 10, is also expected to miss the La Liga opener with Real Sociedad on 21 August.
Goalkeeper Navas, meanwhile, could be ready for the game against the Basque side but will be rested for the Super Cup. The Costa Rican has been out of action since the Champions League final after undergoing an Achilles tendon operation in June, missing the Copa America.
Kiko Casilla is expected to cover between the sticks for the cup, but Zidane has also included his son Luca as the third choice keeper behind Ruben Yáñez.
Zidane has also decided to rest Bale, Kross and Pepe for the final against Sevilla as the trio only recently returned to Real Madrid training following their participation with Wales, Germany and Portugal respectively at Euro 2016.
The five absences are a massive blow for the French boss, with the quintet becoming key fixtures in his starting line-up since taking over from Rafa Benitez last season.
Furthermore, Jese has also been ruled out for the game as the academy forward is in negotiations with PSG to complete a move ahead of the new season.
Zidane has at least been able to include Karim Benzema in the squad despite the French striker not playing a single minute of pre-season games against Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea and Bayern Munich due to injury.
Youngster Mariano, meanwhile, completes the rest of the attacking lineup alongside Alvaro Morata and Lucas Vazquez in a bid to cope with the absences of Ronaldo, Bale and Jese.
