George Harrison's guitar and Michael Jackson's glove up for auction
Property from some of the music industry's biggest stars is set for auction as part of Julien's Auctions 2015 Music Icons sale.
The auction house gave a sneak preview of the items about to hit the block, including a guitar used by George Harrison, one of Michael Jackson's gloves, and a tank top worn by Madonna.
Harrison's Mastersound electric guitar is one of the highlights of the sale. The guitar was used by the Beatle in 1963 when he had it on loan.
"It's a guitar that he played in 1963 at various performances throughout the UK, also played it at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, which is really one of their historic performances," said Julien's Auctions CEO and President, Darren Julien. The guitar is estimated to fetch up to $600,000 (£394,000).
Various articles owned by Michael Jackson will be included in the sale: from his fedora and a pair of sunglasses, each estimated to sell between $2,000-$4,000, to one of his famous gloves, lined with black Swarovski crystals.
"Michael Jackson wore this black glove on the History teaser video. It was made and designed by Tompkins and Bush and there are very few black gloves that Michael Jackson ever wore -- most of them were obviously the white glove -- so this is a piece we anticipate could sell for $100,000 plus; we estimate it conservatively at $30,000-$50,000, but similar gloves we've sold for around $200,000," said Julien
Other notable items up for sale include an American flag tank top worn by Madonna during her 2001 Drowned World Tour, estimated to sell for $20,000-$30,000; and a black crown worn by Beyonce in her Haunted music video, estimated to sell for $1,500-$3,000.
The Music Icons auction will take place on 15-16 May in New York City.
