German Chancellor Angela Merkel Breaks Pelvis in Skiing Trip
Accident forces chancellor to stay in bed and cancel meetings for three weeks
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has cancelled all meetings for three weeks after injuring herself while cross-country skiing during a Swiss winter holiday.
Merkel, who last week interrupted her holiday to calm an immigration row in Germany over EU migration, reportedly broke her pelvis after a fall and cannot fly.
The chancellor cancelled her visit to Warsaw that was scheduled for Wednesday and cancelled the meeting with Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, according to her spokesman Steffen Seibert.
Merkel, who was holidaying in the upmarket resort of St Mortiz, will be forced to stay in bed for the next three weeks, the spokesman said.
