German police officer on kids' bike catches moped-riding criminal fleeing via alleyway
Police thought criminal had got away when their vehicle got stuck down a narrow lane.
After their vehicle got stuck in a narrow path, police in Bamberg, Germany thought a criminal suspect had successfully evaded capture.
However, an officer managed to jump on a children's bike and successfully chase down the 27-year-moped riding wrongdoer who was unable to make a getaway, AP reported.
In a statement, police said the suspect had evaded a traffic stop in the south German town when authorities gave chase. The suspect was found to be carrying drugs and driving under the influence.
This is not the first unlikely police chase in Germany, in recent months. In May, in Gommersheim in Rhineland-Palatinate, police pulled over a vehicle driving slowly and erratically to discover a three-year-old behind the wheel.
The child had accessed the car without his mother realising he had gone missing. Police were able to top the vehicle safely and no-one was injured in the incident.
