A man and his young family have been found stabbed to death in Gibraltar Reuters

A British man has been found dead alongside his Spanish girlfriend, a four-year-old girl and a six-week-old baby in Gibraltar, in a suspected holiday murder-suicide.

The Royal Gibraltar Police have confirmed that the 31-year-old was found stabbed to death along with a Spanish woman, 37,and the two children on Monday.

The family, whose bodies were discovered in a rented flat in Boschetti's Steps, in the south of the British principality, are not thought to be local and had been in Gibraltar for a few days prior to their deaths, according to local media.

Detectives and forensic officers have been working in the flat in Boschetti's Steps since early this morning and the area remains cordoned off, reported the Gibraltar Chronicle.

A police statement said: "Presently, we are not looking for anyone involved in this very unfortunate event, but the investigation will be thorough and detailed drawing in on the expertise of other professionals."
