At the age of 34, supermodel Gisele Bundchen is retiring from the runway after 20 years of strutting her stuff.
The face of Chanel No.5 announced that it was to be her last appearance as she modelled for streetwear brand, Colcci on Wednesday night (15 April) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for their Fashion Week.
Her husband, NFL star Tom Brady and her parents were there to support her during her last catwalk appearance, sitting in the front row of the show.
When contemplating why she made the decision to leave the runway behind, Bundchen revealed to a Brazilian newspaper that it was more of a physical need than a mental one. "Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop. I respect my body."
The mother-of-two took to Instagram before the show on Wednesday mentioning her plans to stop participating in runway events as she wrote: "I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey. Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business."
To celebrate the icon's time on the catwalk, IBTimes UK takes a brief look at her life spent on the runway.
