Glenn Close and David Shaw divorce: Fatal Attraction star splits from third husband after 9 years
They say third time's a charm but it looks like Hollywood actress Glenn Close may be the exception to that rule. The Fatal Attraction star has ended her marriage to her third husband, David Shaw, after nine years.
E! News reports that the couple, who tied the knot in 2006, separated amicably and there is no signs of a bitter divorce battle on the horizon. "The divorce was mutual," her rep said. "She did not divorce him."
A source also told the New York Post's Page Six the 68-year-old actress now plans to move to New York. "Glenn and David have been telling friends over the summer they are divorcing, and he'll remain living in Maine while Glenn moves back to New York full time. They've been separated for some time, and things are amicable between them."
Before finding love with the business executive and venture capitalist, Close was married to singer-songwriter Cabot Wade from 1969 to 1971, and then to businessman James Marlas from 1984 to 1987. She also had a long-term relationship with producer John Starke, with whom she has a daughter called Annie.
Following the end of her time with Marlas, Close opened up about her philosophy on marriage insisting it was often the man that benefited from the union. "Too many women define themselves in terms of a man," the Emmy winner said. "Men blossom under the nurturing of a good woman, while women don't often get that benefit from a man.
"I think of men and women as two different species. Katharine Hepburn said they should live next door and visit each other once in a while. Not a bad idea."
