Google Android 5.0.2 OS update begins rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 LTE users

Google's much expected Android 5.0 (Lollipop) that upgrades the current operating system in host devices, is now said to be actively rolling out to users of Samsung's Galaxy tab S 8.4 LTE tablets.

According to a YouMobile report, users of the Galaxy tab S 8.4 LTE bearing model number SM-T705 should notice the more recent Android 5.0.2 firmware upgrade via the over-the-air (OTA) mechanism, and the new software can also be obtained through Samsung Kies.

The YouMobile report also states that the latest rollout has started from Hong Kong; it should not be too long before users of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 LTE in other parts of the world get to see Android 5.0. YouMobile thinks that the firmware will reach more regions by the end of May 2015.

Samsung's Galaxy tab S 8.4 LTE ran the outdated Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) operating platform out of the box after its release.

• Interruptions: Priority notifications such as events and reminders, phone calls, and messages can be set up to sound or vibrate while all other notifications are muted.

• Recents: Easy access to your Chrome tabs right from the Recent apps page. Multi-window icons for ease of use during multi-tasking.

• Battery Saver: A battery saver feature that extends device use by up to 90 minutes.

• 'OK Google' voice command: Talk to Google on the go to get quick answers, send a text, get directions and more.

• Connectivity: Improved network selection logic so that your device connects only if there is a verified internet connection on Wi-Fi.

• Security: SELinux enforcing for all applications means even better protection against vulnerabilities and malware. Use Android Smart Lock to secure your phone or tablet by pairing it with a trusted device like your wearable or even your car.
