Google Maps for Android updated: Users can now set custom names for favourite destinations
Google Maps for Android has been updated and now users can assign custom names for their favourite places. The new feature is available on the latest version of Google Maps for Android and can be downloaded from Google Play.
This functionality lets users rename preferred locations and places of interest with easier names.
How to set custom names for favourite places?
To set custom names, Android users can follow the below instructions:
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Search for an address. Or drop a pin by touching and holding a place on the map.
- From the bottom, press the place's name or address.
- From the top right, press Menu > Edit name.
How to edit a name?
To edit names of places, users can follow the steps below:
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Press Side Menu > Your places.
- Scroll until you see "Named places" and press on the name you want to edit.
- From the top right, touch Menu > Edit name.
- Type the name and then choose the best suggestion.
How to delete named locations?
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Touch the side Menu > Your places.
- Scroll down until you see "Named places".
- Beside the name you want to delete, touch the X option. If you don't see the name, touch More to see all your names.
- You'll see the message "Named place was deleted". Press Undo to restore the named place.
How to find a named place on Google Maps?
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Type the named place in the search box.
Google Maps for Android can be downloaded from Google Play.
