The highlight of the racing calendar is almost upon us with the 169th edition of the Grand National taking place in Saturday 9 April at Aintree. Who is your money on?

Where to watch?

Channel 4 will have live coverage of the final day of the Grand National Festival, beginning at 2.00pm (BST) and right through until 6.30pm. The main event itself has been moved back to a later time of 5.15pm. Almost nine million people tuned into watch Many Clouds cross the finishing line last year in a race that started at 4.15pm, but Channel 4 and Aintree execs hope the later start time will increase their audience even further.

Who is the favourite?

The 169th Grand National sees 2015 winner Many Clouds once again favourite to take the crown and is looking to become the first horse since Red Rum in 1974 to win it back to back. Jockey Leighton Aspell meanwhile is looking to become the first man to ride three National winners on the trot, having also rode Pineau De Re to victory in 2014.

What the trainer says

Oliver Sherwood [via Racing Post]: "It's more the other 39 horses than him," added Sherwood. "The fences still need jumping, but I'm very happy with where we are and it's very exciting and I'm enjoying the ride. It's when you haven't got a runner in the race you want one. He's fresh and very well."
