Grey's Anatomy actress Ellen Pompeo says Alex is Meredith's 'ride-or-die' partner in season 13
Alex has been charged with felony assault in the second degree after he nearly beat Andrew to death.
The ongoing emotional tussle in Grey's Anatomy season 13 has kept fans on the edge of their seats. There's plenty of drama happening inside the Grey Sloan Memorial hospital. After nearly beating Andrew to death, Alex is caught in a court battle with the charge of felony assault in the second degree mounted on him. While his girlfriend Jo broke up with him because of his violent behaviour, his friend Meredith has always been a source of support for him.
Mer, on the other hand, is having her personal crisis as she is attracted (and sleeping with) Nathan, on whom her sister Maggie has a serious crush.
Actress Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith in the ABC medical drama, has opened up about her future equation with friend Alex. "I think as long as it's within the law, Alex is her ride-or-die," she told US Weekly.
Explaining Mer's mild threat to Andrew in the hospital, she said: "Meredith has to pull it back. She took that step towards possibly threatening, and then got her hand slapped by Dr. Bailey, and she doesn't want to make anything worse for Alex, so she's had to rein it in. She owns the hospital — she doesn't need a lawsuit."
In the second episode of season 13, Maggie is left disappointed after Nathan politely declined her "date" request. She is still unaware that her sister Mer and the cardiothoracic surgeon are attracted to each other. "We're still doing the triangle, and Meredith is still keeping the secret from Maggie," she said while teasing a love triangle.
Pompeo, 46, has also hinted that the show creator may introduce a major twist in Meredith's life. "We have Riggs in the mix, too, so we can't just go to the Alex place! No one knows what will come out of Shonda Rhimes' mind. I never try to predict the future, in my job or in my real life."
Grey's Anatomy season 13 airs on Thursdays at 8/7 pm CT on ABC.
